How does the technology affect the user experience (UX)

Nowadays, we face a reality where the Internet has changed the way people consume software and they are sending a clear message that they don’t want new technology for its own sake, but a good one that is designed to provide a compelling and effective user experience.

In order to respond to their journeys accordingly, it is important that the digital products respond at a more human level, and not only at the levels of logic and data entry.

Users expect you to know what they want, how they want it, and most importantly, they want it now!

This means we must understand and meet the exact needs, desires, motivations, and contexts of people using digital products and services, without fuss or bother. The simplicity of the design solution makes the good software a joy to use and highly affects user satisfaction, but the user experience goes far beyond that which requires a seamless merging of the services of multiple disciplines concerning form, function, behaviour, and content.

How can UX/UI boost your business/brand?

Increase customer engagement

A strong user experience offers the business a strong competitive advantage in attracting and retaining customers. The more aesthetically pleasing a product's design is, and the more intuitive the features are, the easier it is for the customers to build trust and become consistent in buying your products or services. All of this will increase the chances of attracting new visitors and quite possibly converting them into customers.

Increase revenues

A user-friendly interface that fulfils a customer’s needs is more likely to convert customers which leads to increased sales and revenue. An easy-to-consume user interface, clear call-to-actions and fewer steps in the user journey will be key factors for all users to interact with your site or app with no problem and buy your products or services which will lead to increased profit on a regular basis.

Optimizes development time and cost

Integrating UI/UX design in your development process will highlight and give you the opportunity to address most of the usability issues you’d have encountered during and after the development of your solution. The projection of the user interface design, when done well, reduces costs, time and effort throughout the later stages, which means that the strategic decisions taken at the start of the project determine the cost and performance in the future. Our UI/UX designers can anticipate the users’ needs before going to production, and ultimately ensure that the design is both flexible and scalable so that they can grow with users in the future.

Differentiate your brand

To attract your potential customers and stand out from the crowd, you should implement precise UX/UI designing strategies to catch the users attention and make visual contact. The human’s eye wants to catch new and original things, so UX/UI is an awesome opportunity for your business to make a difference between the competitors and take advantage of the market. Specific colours, logo, typography, animations, images and other visuals are key factors for getting attention, so use them wisely to get more eyeballs and convert more customers.

Factors influencing the design process, estimates and costs

Complexity Level
The number of functions at each level as well as the complexity of relationships and interactions between the users and those functions.

The number of platforms to design for is a major factor determining the cost. Whether it’s a cross-platform, Android, iOS app or a progressive web application.

Company’s Requirements
Specific designs, animations or custom-made graphic elements.

Whether the client has any useful documents ready or things need to be made from scratch.

Designer’s Competence and Skills
Whether the designer possesses a medium or high level of competencies.

The design flow

1. Product definition

Initial meeting with the client to meet the design team. The team then reviews the product’s documentation to better understand the goals, after which a Q&A meeting follows.

2. Research & analysis

Domain research (desk and user research), exploring existing products and services, coming up with dozens of ideas and choosing the best possible solutions.

3. Prototyping & concept validation

Turning possible solutions into sketches and low-fidelity mockups. Defining user flows and validating the concept designs.

4. Visual design

Defining a unique visual language, turning the low-fidelity mockups into high-fidelity, and creating complete prototypes.

5. Design review & evaluation

Presenting the mockups to the client. Improvements and refinements until everything is approved.

6. Full product design delivery

Presenting the mockups to the client. Improvements and refinements until everything is approved.

7. Data analysis & iteration

Possibility to extend support and continue improving and refining the design as design is an iterative process.

From our experts

Mirjana Gjorgjioska

Design Lead

We all have experienced bad design in our everyday life – the door we don’t know whether to push or pull, the home appliance we are unsure how to control, the unnecessarily complex banking service processes, and many more.

In a digital environment, it is much easier to replace such bad experiences with another highly improved and efficient product or service.

Thus, we must understand the necessity to predict and eliminate all possible frustrations your customers might face on their digital journey, and together build seamless and delightful experiences that increase their productivity and engagement.

What is Web Factory MK?

Web Factory MK is a self-founded Macedonian domestic entity founded in 2009 by four engineers. It has grown to a nationally recognised software development company, in the top 5%, and currently employs over 80 engineers.

Do you work with Startups? Can we start development without specification?

Yes. It is possible. We have experience supporting startups, projects that start application/service development when the specifications are not fixed, and developing prototypes and brushing up rather than dropping them in the specifications because changes are always required. We have experienced such collaboration, and we create prototypes at high speed and develop with an agile approach.

What kind of service does Web Factory MK offer?

We offer engagement support from the ideation phase, Prototyping, DevOps, and QA. We have IT consultants, UI/UX designers, specialists in specific industries, and professional engineers to help customers develop efficiently from idea to launch.

Which tools do you use for product design?

Figma, Sketch, InVision, Adobe XD, Miro, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop.

How long does it take to design a product?

The collaboration timeline heavily depends on the scope of work and the team size. For example, it can take several months to design an MVP for a new product, depending on project complexity and if you would like to conduct user research to improve your existing product’s usability, several weeks might be enough. Each case is unique and the work scope can only be defined once we discuss your plans and objectives.

Do you provide support to the application after the product launch?

We shall extend our support according to your requirements.

Our success story on UX/UI

Extending the touchpoints at which users can meet their Idols

JoyJoi is a virtual handshaking platform where fans can meet with their favourite idols in Japan. The platform is fully simulating reality. We transformed the experience, which is now much more personalised, and virtual 1:1 communication is a perfect substitute for the in-person handshakes.

‘Amazing team! We were working on a challenging application never developed before for Idol groups in Japan, and what Web Factory MK did was superb. We created a platform with video calls from scratch on multiple platforms in less than 10 months.’
